Mi Casa on Main St.

Stroll down Main St. in Mt. Airy / Mayberry and you’ll find quaint shops and local restaurants. Tonight we tried Mi Casa on Main St. as our first local restaurant as we discover the area. The street lined with cars and the long wait for a table were true indicators of this fabulous restaurant.

I tried the Surf and Turf Burrito, with tender beef and perfectly seasoned shrimp. My husband had “Classic Tacos” trying Tinga, Chorizo and Carnitas. He loved each of them, with the only complaint being the chicken taco was a little too wet making the tortilla soggy. Fortunately he ate that one first. Both kids had chicken quesadillas with my teenage son saying they were huge and my daughter saying it was the best she’d ever had. Now the too big to eat may have been because we had started with the Dip Trio and indulged before the meals arrived.

One of my favorite things was the choice in heat for the salsa. Usually you get the type they serve and are either hoping it’s spicy or mild rather than being offered a full range of spice levels. The guacamole was fresh and chunky without too much of any one thing, letting the avocados shine. The chips were thick, but crunchy and well seasoned.

We have no idea if there was dessert, because we were asking for a box at the end. Maybe next time we’ll check out their full bar and specialty drinks, because there will definitely be a next time.
